Reflection 3 (Video Presentation)

Salam,

So we are already in the third week of lecture. Still a long way to go huh? Nevermind, patience is the only thing that we really needed here. Stay positive and I am sure I will get through this thick and thin.

Honestly, my friends and I have had such an amazing time together during our Educational Technology class on the September 27, 2011 which was on last Tuesday. Yo must be wondering why right? Well, actually, we were supposed to display our product of video maker after a week working on it. I shall say that everybody did a well done job despite of everything, (you name it!)

Based on the videos shown, I personally believe that every group had been working so hard the whole week in order to produce what Mr. Sarihan called as ‘good piece of work’. It’s not that ‘very good’ but we did quite well. Let’s get back to the video presentations. The first video was created by Doris, Chong Xin Txin, Ting Suk Hua, Ilanggo Kanan and Ting Tiew Keng. It was totally about literature. My comment, the video was very interesting and personally if it is used for teaching and learning purposes, I am pretty sure that the students would love it! They managed to incorporate the use of technology wisely and very appropriately. Well done group 1!

Then it was the second group’s turn to present their video. Everyone was anticipating for more exciting video. Fortunately, this group’s video did not turn down our anticipation. The group members of the group were, Abang Joharizal, Aileen Tiong, Rachel Chin, Tie Yin Yin and Leon. Of all the videos, I think this is the only group that had come out with something totally different from the other groups. Their video was about natural disaster. Based on their video, I could see that everyone realise how bad the destruction that natural disaster could bring. Thus, we must take a very good care of the nature. Well done group 2, a video with a significant message!

After that, we move on with the third group. It was not a disappointment from the third group as well. They had come out with such a great video on adjectives. It was presented by Hilman, Nigel, Freddy, Vanessa and Josman. I shall say that the video was full of sense of humour which actually could make the students feel lively and excited when it comes to learning adjectives. Such a brilliant approach used by the third group. Well done peeps!

Finally, it was the turn of my group. I believe we did a good job either! Our video was on adjectives, the same with the third group. Even though we chose the same topic as theirs, but I assure you that the content of the video was totally different. We were quite pleased with our own video even though I think there were few areas that we have to work on a little bit more. However, I want to congratulate to my group for all the hard work! Well done guys!

Even though all of us received positive comments from Mr. Sarihan, but he did emphasize that there are few areas that we need to look into further in order to create a more interesting video. For example, we really need to be aware of the timing for the transition of the slide. It must not be too fast or too slow. Besides that, the font and size of the words also need to be taken into account as well. A good video should have a well- read and clear slide. So, here, the colours also play such an essential role in the making of a video.

However, I personally think that the videos that we have created were not that bad as it was our very first attempt of creating such video. But it is undeniably that we should improve them in order to come out with such a great product. One more thing is, it is hope that all the teachers are able to use or integrate the use of technology in their teaching and learning process. This is because, ICT can bring so much fun in learning process and therefore could attract the attention of students to learn more especially in the learning of English Language.

Thank you!
